Industrial Specialist (UNICOR)

The Industrial Specialist is a Computer Aided Design (CAD) Drafting/engineering Graphics Specialist at the Product Support Center (PSC). The incumbent functions as the PSC's CAD design and drafting/engineering graphics specialist with responsibility for all FPI blueprinting/engineering graphics activities. Assists in the direction of design and drafting support of all factories to include product design, design analysis, design modeling, and drawing preparation and management. Analyzes data to determine feasibility of new or modified product proposals. Confers with industrial specialists to clarify or resolve problems and develops design. Prepares or directs preparation of product layout and detailed drawings. They are responsible for a variety of industrial processes and procedures, including, but not limited to preparing price quotes, quality assurance procedures, and making recommendations to improve production efficiency in a UNICOR factory. They are also involved in the production, planning, and scheduling of the manufacturing program. Along with all other correctional institution employees, incumbent is charged with responsibility for maintaining security of the institution. The staff correctional responsibilities precede all others required by this position and are performed on a regular and recurring basis. Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M., if related. Graduate Education:

Experience:
GS-11 and GS-12:
Experience that demonstrated a practical knowledge of the methods, materials, machinery, and facilities used in industrial production operations (which may include exploration, extraction, refining, manufacturing, or processing). This knowledge may have been gained in work such as:
Management or supervision of production operations. Industrial planning, industrial engineering, or plant engineering, involving determination of facilities and layout. Process or methods development involving production practices associated with chemical, mechanical, electronic, textile, or food industries. Development of specifications to define product requirements. Sales engineering or buying that required a comprehensive knowledge of production operations. Planning and administering industrial quality control and inspection systems and programs. Comprehensive survey and analysis of industrial operations, organization, capacity, etc. Interpreting and applying contract clauses and government acquisition regulations. Development of plans to determine material requirements and/or schedules for production management. You must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade level in federal service. To be creditable, this experience must have equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities (KSA's) to perform successfully the duties of the position, and must typically be in or related to the position to be filled. GS-11:
Knowledge and experience in manufacturing that includes production flow, planning, equipment, floor plans and production processes. Experience in analyzing and interpreting information related to manufacturing processes and procedures. Experience and knowledge with computer systems, LAN Network systems and Archival systems. Experience interacting with a variety of internal and external personnel, management officials and corporate management on issues relate to production, processes and procedures related to manufacturing, equipment and projects. Experience developing blueprint formats and using procedures for all types of product lines. Experience and knowledge utilizing manufacturing/CAD software applications or automated manufacturing and scheduling systems in a production environment. Experience in planning, scheduling and prioritizing drafting/engineering graphics projects. GS-12:
Knowledge and experience of prototype fabrication, assembly, processing and in-house or off-site fabrication and testing. Knowledge and experience of product design techniques and standards and materials and mechanical components to be able to conceptualize new product designs. Experience understanding the total technical concepts and terminology used in the development, manufacturing, acceptance, and quality control of products. Experience in facilitating personal contract and instruction in the use of blueprints, drawings, engineering graphics, electronic drawing or graphical files, CAD or other automated design systems. Experience analyzing and interpreting information and providing management with comprehensive technical analysis of information related to manufacturing processes and procedures. The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
