We are looking for:
Registered Veterinary Technician-ER; Swing and Overnight Shift-3 x 12 hour shifts (3pm-2am two days/wk.
, 8pm-7am one day/wk.
) Duties include providing care to hospitalized patients, identifying patient distress and reacting accordingly, and advanced technical skills.
Ideally, this person enjoys phlebotomy, placing IV catheters, preparing and processing laboratory samples, assisting with recovery, and is willing to work with a broad spectrum of case types.
What you'll do:
Performing treatments on hospitalized patients including the administration of medications by various routes Obtaining vitals, blood pressure, ECG, and other monitoring parameters Monitoring hydration status, administering CRI's, setting up IV fluids with multiple lines, etc.
Phlebotomy and basic knowledge of hematology and normals Perform in-house laboratory testing and prepare samples for outside laboratory testing Basic knowledge of anesthetic drugs, protocols, and anesthesia monitoring Medical record keeping, client communication (particularly in regard to patient updates) Provide client education including, but not limited to:
home care instructions, medications (indications, adverse reactions) and general wellness updates on hospitalized patients Knowledge of common medications Ability to place intravenous catheters, central line placement and PICC line placement and care Transfusion therapy including blood typing and cross matching Feeding tube care and maintenance Placement of male/female urinary catheters Able to place nasal O2 line Prepare patients for ultrasound and CT scans, including gathering history Record and deliver organized rounds, discuss cases and communicate additional information as necessary Partner with departments regarding treatment plans, client communication and nursing care concerns Assist DVM with patient assessment, treatment and procedures CPCR Who you are:
Registered Veterinary Technician license holder Prior veterinary emergency or ICU experience desired Proficient in calculations (drugs, constant rate infusions, unit conversions, etc.
) Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment Excellent verbal and written communication skills Benefits for full-time employees include:
