The Senior Mineral Processing Engineer will be part of an engineering team, providing technical and leadership support for engineering services and/or field support. The role will require the engineer to develop solutions in all areas of the processing plant across various systems, unit operations and process equipment. LocationThis position will be based out of Kiewit regional office in Lone Tree, CO. Relocation is preferred; however, remote work locations will be fairly considered on a case-by-case basis.
Position may require up to 30% travel on average based on project demands.ResponsibilitiesResponsibilities
Perform process engineering tasks on Minerals Processing projects, in a variety of commodities.
Operate with full competence and independence in the execution of all design calculations, design criteria, in the compilation and execution of equipment lists and calculations
Develop new criteria/calculations where required, maintaining high levels of accuracy
Provide frequent training, guidance, and supervision to less experienced colleagues
Actively engage with clients to understand project requirements and grow the client base
Participate in the preparation of proposals and other business development initiatives
Perform, oversee and mentor others in the following activities:
o Develop Process scope definition and technology selection
o Develop Process design criteria
o Define Block Flow diagram Diagram (BFD) and plant unit operations
o Develop Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs) and associated heat and material balance (HMB) calculations
o Conduct trade-off studies to identify the best solutions
o Identify, scope and manage process testwork (on-site or laboratory based)
o Conduct capacity analysis for existing plants
o Carryout engineering design calculations and equipment sizing calculations
o Prepare specifications of process attributes for equipment, through compilation of process datasheets (or process input to general datasheets)
o Process Description
o Process control logic, adhering to appropriate safety standards, and documentation into Functional Descriptions
o Display full competence and independence in the compilation of P&IDs and all levels of control philosophies
o Specifications portray the appropriate information and design intent
o Conduct Process review of engineered equipment proposals
o Compile operating cost estimates including estimation of consumables, labor, maintenance materials and power
o Provide input to capital cost estimates
o Prepare written project reports
o Contribute to hazard and risk assessments
Liaising with other discipline engineers to ensure design development activities conform to process requirements
Play a lead role in on-site commissioning of new equipment and process systemsQualificationsQualifications
Mineral Processing, Metallurgical, or Chemical Engineering degree.

years of experience in Mineral Processing or closely related industry
10
years' experience in increasingly challenging positions
10
years experience performing engineering-related design or oversight of designs
5
years experience in managing an engineering and design team
Registration as a Professional Engineer is preferred
Registration as a Qualified Professional is preferred
Experience in battery recycling and lithium extraction preferred
Extensive design, commissioning and/or operational experience of minerals processing equipment and processes (comminution, flotation, DMS, gravity separation, leaching, screening, thickening, filtration, ADR, solvent extraction, electrowinning, pressure oxidation, roasting, heap leaching, crystallization, drying, etc.)
Experience in scoping and management of metallurgical testwork programs (bench scale, pilot scale, on-site testing)
Experience in modelling of minerals processing equipment and systems
Strong client focus
Ability to lead processing engineering tasks on a project, within the allocated budget and schedule, including mentoring and guidance of junior colleagues and professional interaction with other project disciplines
