Pay Range$91,200.
00-$125,400.
00 Annual This is the base salary pay range that an applicant can expect to make upon hire.
Pay within this range will vary based upon relevant experience, skills, and education among other factors.
In addition, this position is eligible for an incentive bonus.
The Automation Engineer is responsible for contributing to a team focused on the identification, justification, and implementation of automation technologies throughout JM.
This includes identifying technology options and vendors, assessing technical viability of automation solutions and providers, supporting the divisions in developing business cases for these projects, supporting GP&L in developing vendor partnerships for delivery of automation solutions and providing technical and subject-matter expertise for the implementation of systems and execution of projects.
These systems can include anything from industrial robots to computerized production lines, packaging solutions, and cleaning systems, while always incorporating safety improvements into each solution.
Responsibilities:
Under general supervision, work with Engineering, Process Research, Operations, Division Engineering and Capital and Engineering Services leadership to identify and evaluate automation projects serving to improve safety and deliver on business needs.
Participates on cross functional teams, planning and executing feasibility and evaluation studies of automation technologies, solving internal automation related issues and customer complaints.
As directed, generate parallel paths of potential short-term solutions as well as the longer-term automated solutions.
Participates in identifying and assessing vendors and potential automation solutions partners and contributing to a matrix of potential suppliers in key technology areas.
Collaborate with Operations, Engineering and Finance or Product Management teams to develop business case details for automation solutions.
Ensure a smooth transition of projects to capital resources for implementation, transitioning your role into a subject matter expert for the remaining duration of the funded capital project Work with Capital Engineering resources to generate bid request documentation, supplier lists, bid evaluations and make recommendations for purchasing.
Coordinate, review, provide oversight, and manage supplier and contractor activities for all aspects of the project on and off site, including the commissioning, startup, and training for plant personnel.
Maintain good communication to management and project customers regarding project status, problems, and changes.
Contribute data to aid in the prioritization of projects in the automation project pipeline.
Provide expertise in the areas of automation, packaging and material transport including support of existing system operation and AC&R.
Document and standardize automation solutions and work instructions across plants and divisions.
Ensure that intellectual property is captured and protected through proper procedures.

Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree in Engineering, preferably mechanical, controls/electrical or mechatronic.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in engineering and/or technical fields.
Demonstrated experience automating processes in a manufacturing environment.
Have an innovative, entrepreneurial spirit with good verbal and written communications skills, sound judgment and high energy.
Demonstrated ability to influence stakeholders in a complex matrix organization.
Capable of working in a team-oriented environment with extremely high standards that is geared to achieve and maintain a global leadership position.

Preferred
Qualifications:
Ability to scale up pilot processes to plant operations.
Minimum of 1 year of plant-based process engineering experience.
Key contributor on automation scaleups in a manufacturing environment.
Additional Requirements:
Must be willing to travel more than 25-50%, including international.
This works out to about 1 week a month of travel; which can change during project ramp ups where travel is more frequent.
Comfortable and able to work in an industrial manufacturing facility environment.
