Principal Engineer II (Hybrid)

This position is eligible to work in a hybrid work model (combination of in-office and remote days).
JOB SCOPE Responsible for engineering activities that maintain and enhance the company's telecommunications and signal processing hardware, software and electrical systems.
Works closely with technical operations staff on system design and configuration.
Advanced technical and design skills.
Collaborates with the design teams and advises team leaders.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Design, deploy, manage, and maintain multi-vendor, multi-protocol critical Charter Communications' national backbone and regional core infrastructure Contribute towards network evolution strategies, considering scalability, resiliency, and security best practices Collaborate with cross-functional teams to create comprehensive network architecture plans to support production network infrastructure Work closely with planning and implementation teams to deploy network designs to support business needs Learn and utilize existing Charter communications' core and backbone network automation framework to assist in gathering network state data and auditing capabilities Partner with in-house automation team to design and develop automated network device turn up framework and network service attachment templates/tools Participate in various Network projects from design to implementation, provide clear documentation, SOPs, and usage guidance for engineers and operators Contribute to training of network engineering staff to by providing / explaining different network design and implementation Handle troubleshooting escalation from other internal verticals BASIC / MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Masters or bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field or related work experience Minimum ten (10) years of engineering work experience ADDITIONAL JOB QUALIFICATIONS Strong knowledge in routing and switching protocol BGP, IS-IS, MPLS, LDP, RSVP, OSPF, PIM/IGMP Experience in deploying, upgrading, and troubleshooting multi-vendor network equipment/solutions (For example, Juniper, Cisco, Arista) In-depth experience in TCP/IP (v4 and v6), routing protocols (IGP/BGP) and MPLS technologies Proficiency in underlying LAN/WAN technologies and protocols Experience supporting large-scale peering/transit networks, with a sound knowledge of complex traffic engineering and Internet routing policies Extensive hands-on experience with carrier-grade routers, operating systems (routing policy configurations) Strong network automation skills, including Python programming and templating (jinja2) Strong analytical and interpersonal skills, with proven abilities to adapt to dynamic project environments Strong troubleshooting methodology and experience in an operational environment Inquisitive nature.

The pay for this position has a salary range of $124,000.
