Pay Range$105,700.
00-$145,300.
00 AnnualThis is the base salary pay range that an applicant can expect to make upon hire.
Pay within this range will vary based upon relevant experience, skills, and education among other factors.
In addition, this position is eligible for an incentive bonus.
The purpose of the Thermoplastic Extrusion Engineer's role will be to provide technical leadership to the assets, processes, and new product developments for thermoplastics in the Roofing Systems division.
In this role the ideal candidate will collaborate and work with the process engineering teams at all applicable thermoplastic manufacturing sites.
Data analysis, trials, and research and developments for thermoplastic extrusion and molding will be a key responsibility.
Root-cause-corrective-action analysis will also be a key role in support of thermoplastic production plants.
Strong analysis and forward progress in process efficiency, across all applicable extrusion processes in the division will be expected.
This position will primarily be responsible to drive the overall optimization of asset performance and equipment utilization with a focus on all aspects of the operational cost and performance.
This position will also play a key role in research and development analysis of new extrusion formulations and process needs to support new projects and opportunities.
The Thermoplastic Extrusion Engineer will collaborate with internal JM experts or external resources as required to develop the core technologies beyond existing level.
This role takes an active part in development of AOP, CAPEX planning and strategic business projects.
Your Day to Day:
Manage the Roofing Systems Division extrusion processes as it relates to operations and small-scale developments.
Execute the Division goals, standardizations, and best practice sharing across all RS applicable plants.
Provide general plant support/troubleshooting to address emergencies or ongoing process issues.
Provide general support to any external sources as it relates to thermoplastics and extrusion.
Work as a collaborative team player among the operations teams, research and development teams, product engineering roles, and supply chain roles.
Plan, design, lead, and execute all extrusion or molding projects with safety, quality, production, cost and data drive six sigma principals.
Facilitate process audits within the plants and analyze previous reports and data as well as create clear project plans and complete reports documenting projects.
Perform continuous long-term analysis identifying areas for improvement and corrective actions across all applicable technical platforms.
Develop enhanced control processes and new operating procedures using benchmarking across the different locations.
Actively support improvement of safety performance by encouraging safe behaviors of the team and engaging in the process to improve the JM safety culture.
Create and maintain knowledge of latest technologies and evaluate for use in current process and future processes.
Work with multiple locations / operations / functions to identify major process improvement opportunities addressing all elements of operations.
Lead multiple projects and process optimizations across division by benchmarking and cross-analysis of related technologies.
Provide technical guidance during development, construction and startup to enhance in-plant resource capabilities What You Bring to the Team:
Bachelor's degree in plastics engineering or related polymer or material science such as Composites Material Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a recognized subject matter expert in Plastics Manufacturing and Design.
Master's Degree is a plus.
Minimum of 5 to 10 years of experience in extrusion and industrial continuous process manufacturing either as a process, product or design engineer Extensive experience in polymer processing equipment and tooling, plastics extrusion for multiple formulations, plastics, and rubber like materials Proven track record of identifying and implementing process improvements Demonstrated problem solving skills including complex data analysis Excellent project management skills and demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks Proven results orientation including the ability to lead key projects to successful completion Experience with complex DOE for technology improvement Solid interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work independently and in a team environment Proven ability to make timely decisions Strong leadership skills Proven analytical and quality improvement ability Ability to interface at all levels of the organization, both internally and externally and influence the organization also outside the technical community Experience with automation, robotics, PLCs, and programming is a big plus but not required.
Proficiency in CAD work preferred but not required.
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook Travel required (30-40% per year) Work environment is typical of a manufacturing facility:
May be exposed to environmental conditions of cold, heat, high noise levels, moving mechanical parts, heights, dust/mist/gas/fumes, extensive walking or climbing, etc.
